Sold malecoda a galaxy 560ti. He claimed it was running hot, so took off heatsink and applied more transfer material ... Even after that said was running hot so wanted to return.... Then placed a chargeback on my PayPal...
While I have received card back, I'm out original shipping and now have a altered card.
Do not deal with this seller, does not do the research prior to buying and is the first buyer I have ever had do a chargeback. Not worth the hassle with this buyer.
Response from malecodaSo, now you contact me. I tried to not leave a scathing review on this guys heat. I am also out $13 in shipping and I still have to order another card. If he would have contacted me I would not have issued the charge back. His hostility(check out his review of me) and ban from Hardocp during our discussion did not strengthen his position as a seller. I did not damage the card while it was in my possession. I had to stop running the card after it repeatedly spiked to 90C+ within 5 seconds (as monitored with afterburner and furmark, before and after reapplications), with fans at max in a 70f room, with no signs of lower temperatures during testing. I did not want to blow it up if I had to return it. There was no "adding additional" thermal paste. I assumed, out of naivety, that I had been sent a working card due to my positive experiences in the past. His packing method was a bit subpar(foam, antistatic bag, and a bubble mailer) for a video card, but for the price I did not complain. I thought the jarring of the heatsink in shipment may have displaced the paste it shipped with. (I now realize i should have immediately shipped the card back at this point. However, I was eager to get my friends pc running before he left town.) So, I properly cleaned off the old paste with 99% isopropyl and applied mx4 (seems like a logical troubleshooting step imo). Idle temps dropped 10C. If the card would have been tested prior to shipment and described as defective, this would not have taken place. Or if the card was damaged in shipping and it was communicated that it had previously been working. However, the whole time it seemed that he was aware the card was defective. If he had done as promised and sent a new card after testing for an additional $25 I would not have issued a charge back. However, I will not simply wait with a defective card until the paypal period expires to receive a response.December 25, 2013
